In Fall 2023, I completed an advanced course in Developmental Biology with Professor Michael Barresi at Smith College. For the final project, each student developed a grant proposal following National Science Foundation guidelines, focusing on a topic of interest within the field.

At the end of the semester, our class of 17 held a mock grant review panel. Two student reviewers presented and evaluated each proposal, and the class collectively ranked them based on scientific merit and potential impact on the field of developmental biology.

My proposal, titled Human Oligodendrocyte Spheroid Model: Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, was selected as the top-ranked submission and recognized as “potentially transformative.”
